The WinX DVD Player is a media companion for those looking for region-free enjoyment of their DVD collection. It supports nearly all available file types, so your DVDs will play flawlessly right away. In many ways, the DVD player also serves as a screen capture tool and also allows you to go back to scenes by tagging or bookmarking them for later.
Unfortunately, for it's wide array of features, where the WinX DVD Player begins to fall short is in its cosmetics. The software is extremely plain with very few features and looks similar to something you might have come across in Windows 98 or even earlier versions. It does have a variety of views, including a mini version of the software and it also supports most keyboard media shortcuts.
Also, in-software support is non-existent, meaning you'll have to look elsewhere if you encounter an issue with the software. While the website does have a support section and a forum community, it would be nice to see a software file with some of the common questions. It's also worth noting that the DVD player is currently sold as a download for $19.99
Overall, the WinX DVD Player may be an attractive option for those who have an extensive international DVD collection and wish to enjoy them from home, but given the fact that there are a variety of other options available as freeware with just as many (if not more) features out there, you may consider looking elsewhere for your media solution, especially if you don't want to dip into your wallet.
